Thank you for serving as our Anchors of Hope

Last night in New York City, a beautiful evening at the Lighthouse in Chelsea Piers served as the backdrop of a moving and memorable Spring Celebration.
The inspiring program brought to life our theme: Anchor of Hope. The anchor symbolizes the hope and safe harbor supporters like you enable us to offer patients and their loved ones at every stage of their cancer experience.
We kicked off the program by putting the spotlight on our new partnerships with Airbnb and Walgreens.
The inspiration continued as Incyte CEO Hervé Hoppenot accepted our Founders Award for Innovation in recognition of his company’s longstanding support of our patient resources—including a new digital platform dedicated to MPN patients and caregivers.
The recognition of ground-breaking advances for patients also took center stage as we presented the Barbara Bradley Baekgaard Family Foundation with the Founders Award for Spirit.
In just two years, the family foundation’s support has enabled us to serve patients in six new locations—including the Navajo Nation, marking the establishment of the first full-time cancer care center on an American Indian Reservation.
Award-winning actress and CSC champion Alysia Reiner, known for Orange is the New Black and many other shows, opened with a moving message on behalf of the entertainment community for the final piece of the program: the presentation of the Inaugural Marin Mazzie Award for Empowerment.
After Mazzie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she took on the role of an advocate for other cancer patients with the same combination of grace and power that made her such a beloved and respected member of the Broadway community.
Mazzie’s husband, Broadway star and CSC champion Jason Danieley, served as the heart of an emotional tribute to his late wife who passed away last September.
He presented the inaugural award to Ashley Park, a cancer survivor and actress who had co-starred with Mazzie in a revival of The King and I. Park gave a touching acceptance speech as she vowed to continue her work as an advocate to honor her former mentor and co-star.
Broadway’s leading role in the Mazzie tribute continued as Danieley welcomed three Tony award-winning powerhouses—Debra Monk, Donna Murphy, and Karen Ziemba—to the stage. The actresses brought the crowd to their feet as they each sang a song in honor of Mazzie—a video of which we have provided to share this moment with as many of you as possible.
In recounting this year’s Spring Celebration, it is important to note that, as a result of the generosity of supporters like you, we are able to provide $50 million in free services to patients and their loved ones.
Thank you for serving as our Anchors of Hope—and please share this message with your friends and family.
